Rain or Shine Lyrics

Goodnight

Well I just called ten minutes ago and you didn’t even answer your phone
So I’m showing up here at the front door to pick a fight
So I know your buddy Bobby McGee and well, he used to be a friend to me
And he felt so bad he went ahead and told me about y’all’s wild night
(Pre-chorus)
So I get one last goodbye
I’ll make it good you won’t wonder why
Yeah I get one last go at goodnight.
         And baby
(Chorus)
We were born of Rock and Roll, sex, drugs and don’t cha know,

There’s a thousand miles of where you can go tonight
And I apologize for my thinking, all my hard lovin’ and hard drinkin’
When you’re tired of waiting up on me, well goodnight
It’s been a few days now that I’ve had to grasp, all you put me through on that lovers pass
But I’m like a quarter mile at the drag strip and you don’t get a second chance to cut a light
So when you see me ‘round town girl, go ahead and turn that pretty head around
We already had our trophy run now we’re bracket racing to Goodnight
(Pre-chorus)
(Chorus)
(*Instrumental Break)
Yeah I get one last go at goodnight, and baby
We were born of Rock and Roll, sex, drugs and don’t cha know,
There’s a thousand miles of where you can go tonight
I apologize for my thinking, all my hard lovin’ and harder drinkin’
And when you’re tired of waiting up on me, well Goodnight
I said Goodnight
Goodnight

 The Hard Way

Well I was 1095’d for a Sunday drive north of Austin
I’d been down on my luck, hell I just been here a month, I’m already locked up
Everybody warned me, around here they don’t play
I only wanted to see my team on game day
(Chorus)
And I had to learn it the hard way
Yeah it’s always been the hard way
So in a cold concrete room, the steel door’s kaboom drives me crazy
A ten dollar phone call away, hell it’s worth any price today, I miss my baby
The boys here are ok we’re all just going through some things
And everybody’s trying to get the hell out of this place
(Chorus)
(Bridge)
And I’ve earned it all, all this pain that I’ve caused
Like I never deserved, all the things that I’ve lost
And the righteous around here, would damn us all straight to hell
Where the worm never dies, the fires are never expelled
But the mustache and the badge, you got to leave at the grave
Cause in time we all have our own judgment day
(*Instrumental break)
Now the bail has been set, with a bondsman I met and I’ll be on my way
Thanks for dropping by the Wilco Inn we hope to see you again and you enjoyed your stay
Now I’d never treat anybody that way, but they gotta pad all those 401k’s
(Chorus)
Yeah for me it’s always been the hard way

Railroad Song
These street lights they all look the same
And you’re not here when I call your name
It’s Sunday night and my bottle’s dry
You’re not here so I’ll just cry
It’s a rainy day, storm’s coming in
Back at work tomorrow all week again
These lonely eyes are sure hard to hide
And you’re not here so I’ll just cry
(Chorus)
                And that train chugs along
                Just like a railroad song
And the tracks of time are long
                To the healing of hearts
Now city lights they may shine on me
As I’ve been keeping time to your memory
The old lonely eyes they don’t tell lies
And you’re not here so I’ll just cry
(Chorus)
And that train rolls along
Just like a railroad song
You know the tracks of time are long
To the healing of hearts

What am I Gonna Say?

I went down to Mexico for a long weekend
And there I seen God’s glory like I’d seen Eden
I saw things down there to know why Adam sinned
Well it was women, whiskey and the pride of man
My friend Victor told me, it’s no strangers land
I said, by day two I’ll know that town out and in
So I took to the road you know I’m my own man
Now the fortune tellers they won’t look my direction
(Chorus)
What am I gonna do, what am I gonna say
How am I gonna break these chains away
Is it not my right to fight, it was mine or his that night
So you can free me from this cage, or put me in my grave
                What am I gonna say?
Well this Senorita wants the rumba dance
And she speaks no English, me only rusty French
But I’ve known those eyes since I’ve become a man
So we tabbed out early and room service began
Well her Esposo she had failed to mention
It don’t take 7 years to get that left finger itching
When the ring comes off usually the dress comes next
Now we’re all alone and living for no regrets
(Chorus)
(Bridge)
Jose busts the door down, and started swinging
The pistola goes off like, BANG BANG, BANG BANG
We’re all on the ground, but I’m the only one breathing
And the police surround me, like I’m their man
Yes I held that woman, but that gun never touched my hands
(Chorus)
(Chorus)

Scenery

I’ve always lived by the railroad tracks
The sounds as a boy helped me relax
At night, when Mama cried in her room
My family split and there I stood
Right on those tracks, both sides I knew
Now thinking back I can almost hear them say
(Chorus)

That honey we ended up like a dead end job

You go work all day and never know who you are

And our love should’ve been like a runaway train

Hear the trains chug along but my scenery

Looks the same, it never changed
Now I’m a man 6’ 1” I stand
Still Mama’s just barely making rent
And I was lovin’ and I was leavin’, till you came thru
But me and you we held like glue
That time’s now tested and broke in two
And thinking back I don’t even know how this thing began
(Chorus)
(Bridge)

And I always keep my old love letters, right where they belong

In a box, in a drawer oh and sometimes in a song

And I know all about, driving fast and drinking hard y’all and loving last

But must my scenery must it always look the same, It never changed

It looks the same, it never changed
And Honey, we ended up like a dead end job
You go work all day and never know who you are
And our love should’ve been like a runaway train
Hear the trains chug along but my scenery
(Chorus)
It looks the same, it never changed
It looks the same, it never changed……

Only Blue

Well I know I’m not the type you think would get this blue
Cause I generally have enough and I don’t have the Mississippi roots
Oh but lately these old blues songs is all I listen to
And I’m over you, I’m just only blue
(Chorus)
But I’m only blue when I think about those times we shared
And I’m only blue when I see your face most everywhere
I’m only blue oh when I realize our love’s no longer there
And I’m over you now I’m only blue
Baby you said no one could ever take my place
And things with you and me, they would always stay the same
But oh just so you know it don’t bother me to see you with what’s his name
Cause I’m over you now I’m only blue
(Chorus)
(*Instrumental break)
(Bridge)
Like blue rain from a blue sky
Lord that’s how my poor blue eyes have cried
As this blue moon you know it tucks me in every night
(Chorus)
Said I’m over you I’m just only blue
And I’m over you now I’m only blue

Breakin in Boots

Now I don’t know about the shape I’m in
About where you begin girl and where we end
But there’s surely a line left to cross we elude
And so I’m driving around just trying to figure it out
How these feelings differ from when we’re in the house
And Nirvana plays on like we do in your living room
(Chorus)
Trying to love you was like breakin’ in boots
And while you run around oh how it tears me in two
But when we’re in the house honey your so shiny and new
Well baby girl the rain’s gonna fall one day and you’ll be broken too
Remember that time when we were in the mall
We were walking around holding hands and all
Well a couple in love must have seemed to those in view
Then your phone rings it was a normal thing
You said oh it’s just a friend I couldn’t ask you no names
See weakness is death and I’m alive girl when I’m with you
(Chorus)
(*Instrumental break)
Now we lost track girl and I’m thinking back
About your flawless looks and your careless acts
And how to this day to resist you know I could not do
I’m sure you’re doing ok and still getting your way
With a sprite bomb and a smile and all the love that you made
But when you close your eyes do you see me girl in your bedroom
(Chorus)

Harvest Moon

If you see me laughing it’s to keep from crying
I been drinking shine and talking out my mind
See we’re broken hearted cause we see no rain
And we don’t eat the same under this harvest moon
(Chorus)
And I’ll howl oh I’ll howl yes I’ll howl to the moon
Yes I’ll howl oh I’ll howl yes howl harvest moon
Now I got two kids crying, fields that’s low on Iron
And I don’t think I’m gonna make my rent this time
If these walls could talk they’d say they’ve seen it rough
They’d say these times are tough under a harvest moon
(Chorus)
(Bridge)
See this hooch sells lately, you just can’t live on maybe
So we grow us some corn and whip some brew
Yeah I know, I know I don’t wanna be the next town boogie man
But boys if you’re asking I got you some of this here Harvest Moon
(Chorus)

The Rain

My hands are ten and two on this wheel
And I cling tight, with knuckles of white
And I can hear the roar of the road
Where the Sun once shown where did I turn wrong
(Chorus)
And I never meant to be jaded
I’m longing just to leave this aching
I never meant to end up like this
Of this world I roam where did I turn wrong
So with sorrow now I’ll slowly fade away
Can I hang on, how did I drive this far
(Chorus)
It’s never enough when you’re on the gas
Oh it’s never enough boy and you’re fading fast
And all of your dreams and all you had’s just wasted
Never enough when you’re at the wheel
When all that you beg, you borrow and steal
And all of your lies now there only deals you’re just wasted.
You can’t have it all boys oh ain’t it sad
Sometimes you want the law boys sometimes you want the cash
You can’t have it all boys when you’re driving fast
Sometimes you want the law boys right now you want the gas
And I never meant to end up like this
Of this world I roam where did I turn wrong
And the rain drives, and the rain drives on….

Seat with Your Name

There’s a little white church where I used to go
Down a windy old backwoods country road
They meet there on Sundays to shake hands and sing
To praise the Lord Jesus and repent in his name
(Chorus)
And there’s a seat with your name
And there’s a seat with your name
With your name, with your name
                With your name
I know a place we all need to go
Where there’s pearly gates and roads paved with gold
And getting there’s easy and it frees you of shame
All it takes is believing, your heart leads the way
(Chorus)
With your name
With your name…

TroubleTown Lyrics

Carry Me Back

You gotta tough walk and a smooth talk, but there's a long line of your loud barks.  And I bet your bite don't have too much sting.  So you've had your share of heartache and pushing your brand of lost ways.  Well boys you ain't Johnny Cash just cause you play and sing.

Somebody carry me back down to the farm and up the valley where they fear God, and everybody knows their family tree.  Where a helping hand is commonplace there's homemade dumplins and no more hate, carry me back to a new old Virginny.

Now there's new wolves hunting old sheep.  And political celebrities they plan to give us a little more of the American dream.    But I say the slave trade of today is the poor man and his poor fate while be buy a little more high society.

Somebody carry me back down to the farm and up the valley where they fear God, and everybody knows their family tree.  Where a helping hand is commonplace there's homemade dumplins and no more hate, carry me back to a new old Virginny.

Cause I need a porch swing or a river bank.  Where I went to skip rocks with Paw on Sunday.  And all the songs there they won't sound the same and a handshake gets you money at the bank.

Somebody carry me back down to the farm and up the valley where they fear God, and everybody knows their family tree.  Where a helping hand is commonplace there's homemade dumplins and no more hate, carry me back to a new old Virginny.

Somebody carry me back to a new old Virginny.
Carry me back to a new old Virginny.

Cowboy State of Mind

This cowboy state of mind I'm in has got me blowing in the wind and I don't care too much to track the time.  This air is dry and the ground is bare so I'm moving on why should I care?  Town to town with a pistol by my side.

I cowboy on this trail that I call home.  It won't be long 'fore my epitaph's in stone.  It's back to the ground from where I came.  May my mark be made.  Cowboy's they don't stay in graves for long.

With herds to move and outlaws to see it's a long ride and no it ain't easy from high country with stops all the way down.  They squeeze before they call you out backshooters waiting to take you down.  Want my face in the dirt and the rest of me hung in town.

I cowboy on this trail that I call home.  It won't be long 'fore my epitaph's in stone.  It's back to the ground from where I came.  May my mark be made.  Cowboy's they don't stay in graves for long.

Feel the earth it moves beneath my feet.   And I know there's something bigger than me.  In saddle bags the truth I keep.  I never shot first so don't shoot me.

Dust off my boots I'm moving out and that poker hand should cover most my route.  The round I bought the marshall now buys my time.  I'm a hired hand when I ride in but the town it talks so low's my brim.  This red bandanna reminds me who I am.

I cowboy on this trail that I call home.  It won't be long 'fore my epitaph's in stone.  It's back to the ground from where I came.  May my mark be made.  Cowboy's they don't stay in graves for long.

Lovin' Around

It gets so lonely to sit in one place.  On my city street it seems all we do is drink.  There's plenty of faces, I don't wanna know their names no more.
We get so tired to go at this pace.  Oh but life gets inside you and puts you in the race.  We think it's required to keep things in place but, Oh Lord!

We're just wanting someone to love and to be the one that that someone dreams of.  And we're tired, so tired of loving around.

But out in the country there's time to think.  And I know the faces and they know my name.  It's bittersweet to be a part of this place.  So no matter the road I guess the culture don't change.  Because beer isle or the bar you'll find the people the same.  We're standing in line just hoping for a better way.

We're just wanting someone to love and to be the one that that someone dreams of.  And we're tired, so tired of loving around.

And I'm just wanting someone to love and to be the one that that someone dreams of.  And I'm tired, so tired of loving around.

Raining & Cold

Oh yesterday, it seems so far away.  When you woke up next to me and we shared in ecstasy.  Now my phone don't ring, because you ain't calling me.  And it's raining & cold.

Didn't I do the things to try make you the queen?  I went down to your garden from the chalice I took a drink.  I still got the grail in hand but it can't keep me from this wasteland, where it's raining & cold.

This ain't the first rodeo I've seen you know.  Yeah I've been knocked down before.  Can't have you misleading me and no more mistreating me.  Cause I'm good at doing bad alone.

The end would be a shame, regardless of who's to blame.  And where would I find to kiss a pair of sweeter lips?  He was more of a prophet than he was a weather man, cause in my heart it's raining & cold.

This ain't the first rodeo that I've seen you know.  Yeah I've been knocked down before.  Can't have you misleading me and no more mistreating me.  Cause I'm good at doing bad alone.

TroubleTown

The wind is howling like hell, sounds of tortured screams you know so well.  Something's burning, greed you can smell.  I've been up on one and dragged around by the other in this two horse town.  Now the sirens are the only sound.

The house is on fire and we can't stop it now.  Let the wind be the fuel to burn this mother down.  And on the courthouse lawn we'll all gather around to get us warm, cause it's cold in Troubletown.

Scared or strong both knees will shake.  Like the hand holding the blackest coffee you ever ate.  Fate of our father's and we can't escape.  Besides we did nothing to make a change.  Whatever is served on the ladle of the day.  This humble pie ain't only for the saved.

I see you working hard, nose to the ground.  But the rules are all different now.  We've been pruned best to find out how.  This wind will cut you to the bone.  Make you forget all you've ever known.  Time to find us a new home.

The house is on fire and we can't stop it now.  Let the wind be the fuel to burn this mother down.  And on the courthouse lawn we'll all gather around to get us warm, cause it's cold in Troubletown.

The embers lay fog to the ground.  This rain's gonna fall before the sun comes around.  If we rebuild the walls of this town.  Let us not lay a stone before we're humbled down.  And let love be your cornerstone in Troubletown.  Let love be your cornerstone in Troubletown
.

Till It Hurts

At a cloudy baseball game down in Atlanta.  In rain delay spilled hotdog down your shirt.  I knew I had to know your name and offer to buy you dessert.  Then something in my chest moved till it hurt.

Now the more I see of you the less I work.  And that might make me lazy poor or worse.  But when we go out to eat tonight I'm hoping you reach for your purse.  Even my pride loves you till it hurts.

You wonder why folks know me all around?  See cause I've been thrown from about every bar in town.  So if we must go out stay alert and it's a good thing you're a nurse.  I'm taking my baby dancing till it hurts.

See I know that your Mom and Dad don't like me.  And just like them we are from different worlds.  But please don't ever take your love to spite me.  Because if you do no Doc could get me well, and nothing in this world could make me worse.   That's how much I love you...  Till It Hurts

Don't you ever worry about my loyalty or wonder if I'll care when we're older.  Whatever pain or pleasure brings no it won't ever quench my thirst.  And I will always love you till it hurts.

Whatever pain or pleasure brings it won't ever quench my thirst.  And I will always love you till it hurts.  And I will always love you...  Till It Hurts

Feel Me Breathe

I'll use my hands to guide my way through.  Because they say love is blind and i can't lose my head too.  Like the dog at the tracks when no train whistle blew.  Now there's no looking back and my heart is your coup.

Hold on tight to me.  Use your hands to see.  You know I'm there, can't you feel me breathe?

Secondary intention, took some time to get through.  Had to heal from the inside because this world is so cruel.  Now faith is a fire from love's humble flame.  Who's only desire is that you burn the same.

Hold on tight to me.  Use your hands to see.  You know I'm there, can't you feel me breathe?

A man won't meant to live alone.  And faith is love, this much I know.  So if you get scared when you're letting go, just use your hands.  You can feel your way home.

Hold on tight to me.  Use your hands to see.  You know I'm there, can't you feel me breathe?

Better Than Time

I'll always long for you.  In the night, in the day and endless morning dew.  Tried my own way and that won't do.  So you're the one I bring my troubles too.

And you're better than time.  You are the divine. Like wild horses in summer time in your beauty I'm subdued.  And you're all that I seek.  So please stay inside of me, be the strength that I need.  Always with you.

If I ever fall again it won't compare to the love and fear that we share.  Cause you're eternal and that don't end.  So may I never replace you with the apple again.

And you're better than time.  You are the divine. Like wild horses in summer time in your beauty I'm subdued.  And you're all that I seek.  So please stay inside of me, be the strength that I need.  Always with you.

Jesus you cured us.  Jesus you came so us sinners no longer have to be slaves.
Jesus you suffered, your glory in pain.  Now up high at his right hand, my Lord you were raised.
Jesus you cured us.  Jesus you came so us sinners no longer have to be slaves.

And you're better than time.  You are the divine. Like wild horses in summer time in your beauty I'm subdued.  And you're all that I seek.  So please stay inside of me, be the strength that I need.  Always with you.

You're better than time......
